Remarks & Notes |
The Rhaetian Railway turns yellow! The "Allegra" dual-system multiple unit (ZTZ) ABe 8/12 # 3514 needed a new coat of paint. A "Heritage" livery was applied in the colors and with the matching lettering of the former Bernina Railway (BB), which had been taken over by the Rhaetian Railway in 1943 due to the difficult financial situation in the middle of the Second World War. On the very first day of scheduled service, # 3514 is on its way with regional train 4637 from St. Moritz to Tirano in heavy snow through the cut above the Montebello curve between Morteratsch and Bernina Suot. What cannot be seen here: Only the first car body is in yellow, the other end car shows the light blue/light grey colors of the former Chur-Arosa Railway (ChA), which was also taken over by the Rhaetian Railway around the same time. The middle car body of the "Allegra" has the dark green/cream color scheme that was common on the Rhaetian Railway at that time. The "Allegra" in this new paint scheme is called "Ahnenzug" (ancestor train) by the RhB. |
