A Southern Pacific freight heads east along the "beautiful" Los Angeles River on the Union Pacific's Los Angeles Sub, which it uses to head south ("railroad east") through this part of downtown Los Angeles. The typical mashup of "Espee" diesels is powering this train: SP SD40T-2 8306, SD9 4350, U33C 8589, another U33c and an SD35. Not long after this train passes, the American Freedom Train, behind former SP Daylight 4-8-4 4449, restored and wearing AFT colors, will pass by on its way to Pomona for display.
