At about 130 km/h (80 mph) the Intercity 878 of the line IC2 from Lugano and Bellinzona is speeding towards the Gotthard between Castione-Arbedo and Claro, passing a typical Gotthard cable hut "26 o". The train will run over the Gotthard mountain line, now called the "panorama line", without stop to Arth Goldau, then further to Zug and Zürich. Since the derailment of a northbound freight train in the Gotthard Base Tunnel in august 2023, the west bore will be closed for engineering work till about september 2024. IC 878 is run by the highspeed trains "Giruno" RABe 501 # 021 "Graubünden" and # 010 "Basel Landschaft" in multiple control, with the monastery Santa Maria on the valley slope and the Pizzo di Claro. By the way, the Giruno "Graubünden" greets the Pizzo di Claro which is on the border between the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden.
