Frozen Orange Creamsicle. After arriving as the DPU showed up on a run through BNSF-CSX oil train, on the prior day, Norfolk Southern 8105 (Interstate) was ready to depart with the weeks snowfall still in evidence as the lead on CSX M567-21 on Sunday, January 21, 2024. As a part of NS’s 30th anniversary celebration in 2012, this GE ES44AC was one of 20 new locomotives painted into predecessor schemes, and in July, 2013, it was the first NS heritage unit to lead on the CSX River Sub. The Interstate was a small railroad in the southwest part of the of Virginia with about 80 miles of trackage at its peak that was purchased by Southern Railway in 1960. The station building at Ridgefield Park, New Jersey opened in 1927 for the New York Central’s West Shore Line and served until the New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway ceased passenger service in 1966. Today it is a private commercial establishment.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
