The first generation EMU for East Rail was in service between 1982-1999, and the E44 was the only train set that didn’t undergo mid-life refurbishment. MTR restored the train with parts transferred from the retiring Mid-Life Refurbished Trains in recent years. The unit went to Hung Hom station last night for an exhibition, along with other preserved trains.
