CLOVIS NM Jan 22 1984 — A light snow sets the scene as ATSF SDF45 5956, SD40-2 5041 and SD45-2 5633 sit at the west fuel racks. EMD built the unit (s/n 34042) in December 1967 as ATSF 1906 and delivered it in Bookends livery with blue body and yellow ends. In the general renumbering it became ATSF 5906 in March-July 1970 and was repainted in blue body with yellow warbonnet livery and chrome yellow Santa Fe lettering on the long hood. The San Bernardino CA shops rebuilt it to an SDF45 and renumbered it to ATSF 5956 in May 1982.It was rebuilt with a flat pilot in February 1995. Santa Fe retired the unit in May 1995. It was acquired by Wisconsin Central on June 16 1995 and renumbered WC 6651. A photo taken on June 12 2001 by Les Pitcher posted on Diesel Locomotive Lovers Facebook page shows the unit in Wisconsin Central livery. My photo.
