Remarks & Notes
Two westbound BNSF trains race up the 1.4% grade of Goffs Hill as they traverse the new triple-track section of the Needles Sub. On Main One, a Logistic Park Chicago, IL to Long Beach (Pier T), CA intermodal train runs around a slow moving Council Bluffs, IA to Guernsey, CA loaded grain train as they approach Arrowhead Junction. The westbound stack train is a 15,000 ft combo stack train. With three locomotives on the head end, and more three in the middle, manned helpers had to be called out of Needles to help push the train across the Mojave Desert. Somewhere east of Needles, two of the middle DP motors experienced mechanical issues; resulting in no horsepower and dynamic braking effort. Also, one of the locomotives on the head end consist had a dynamic brake failure. The helpers will push the train to Pisgah before running back to the home terminal of Needles.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
