Iowa Interstate GP38-2 was built by EMD in August 1972 as Penn Central 8020. With the formation of Conrail in 1976, this diesel became CR 8020. It was later sold back to EMD, which placed it in their lease pool as EMDX 820. EMD eventually sold it to Union Pacific, which was looking for inexpensive power at the time, and it was renumbered UP 1955, and later became UP 455. UP eventually sold it to another leaser, Locomotive Leasing Partners, which numbered it LLPX 2330. From there it was acquired by the IAIS, becoming, as seen forty-three years and three months after it was built in nearby McCook, IAIS 718. (Blue Island, Illinois – November 16, 2015)
