Remarks & Notes |
Hudson Line History.
Northbound Hudson Line train 8741, led by Metro-North Railroad P32AC-DM no. 228, is seen racing past the former Scarborough station house. The building was constructed in 1898 as an identical replacement for an 1893 structure that was struck by lightning and burned down. A new station was constructed by Metro-North slightly further up the line, with high-level platforms on tangent track rather than the original low-level platforms on curved track. The former station building now only houses the Scarborough Post Office, which has interestingly been a tenant of station buildings here since 1864 - though RPO "catch and throw" practices aren't in use anymore! |
