Pair Of PCCs. On the night of February 25, 2021, two of MBTA's veteran Pullman-Standard 1945–1946 built PCC (Presidents' Conference Committee) cars sit in Mattapan, Massachusetts awaiting the next call to service. This small group of cars have survived decades longer on the Ashmont–Mattapan High-Speed Line than on the Green Line because they are able to fit the tighter clearances. As part of its recent Capital Programs, money was allocated to assess the best replacement option for this fleet, and it was determined that modifying the line for Type 9 cars was the best option, which will include eliminating the loop at Mattapan and raising the platforms 14 inches.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
