Worms On The Curve. MTA Metro-North Railroad 217 (Penn Central Heritage) was transported from North White Plains to Croton Harmon on Thursday, February 29, 2024. This unit commemorates the New York State/Penn Central paint scheme used on FL9s during this era as part of Metro-North's ongoing 40th Anniversary celebrations, it's fourth wrap that joins the four Connecticut DOT New Haven tribute units. Penn Central's interlocked "PC" was commonly called "mating worms", and from 1969 to 1976 it operated all of Metro-North's East of Hudson service, bringing FL9s to the Hudson and Harlem Lines for the first time in revenue service. The newly released wrapped locomotive is seen being towed by the AMMO crew using MTA Metro-North Railroad GP35r 101 (née-RDG 3641, GP35) next to the Harlem River in Marble Hill, New York, New York.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
