Shiny and New.
In the early morning hours of March 1, 2024, the New York City Transit Authority took delivery of five new R211A subway cars: no.s 4185 through 4189. Unlike previous deliveries - except earlier this same week - these cars were put on the rails on a different track than usual; one typically used to serve the Sims Metal Management plant at the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. Thus in order to get the cars onto into the Subway system, they first had to be brought out onto the street trackage on 1st Avenue so that the TA locomotives could be coupled on.
Here we see R211A car no. 4185 facing out of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal, ready to be pushed out onto the street trackage.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
