Remarks & Notes
A roster view of U28CG 357 on one of its early trips on September 9, 1966 soon after the ten new units were delivered by GE. In 1966 Santa Fe purchased ten General Electric U28C locomotives modified with steam generators and dubbed U28CG by GE, numbered 350-359 and later 7900-7909. After the Amtrak takeover of passenger service on May 1, 1971, the 7900s steam generators were removed and the units were repainted for freight service. Photo by Al Chione, from my collection.
