Remarks & Notes |
Transit Freight at Mountain View Station.
NJ Transit GP40-2 no. 4102 and Dover and Rockaway River GP38 no. 2006 are seen leading Dover and Delaware River train RP-2 along Pal Drive on the Totowa Spur, after serving local industries.
The pavement and curb to the left of the train is all that remains of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western railroad's Mountain View Station, from back when this spur was part of the railroad's Boonton Branch. The station was closed in April 1963 - 86 years after it opened in 1877 - when traffic was diverted to the Erie's Greenwood Lake Branch between Wayne and Hoboken. Much of the right of way between Wayne and Paterson was sold for the construction of Interstate 80. |
