Heading west out of Abo Canyon is a vehicle train, BNSF V-BLUSBD1-17A (Blue Island IL to San Bernardino CA), with ES44DCs 7531 and 7225 up front. This train is slowing for a Maintenance of Way track crew at Beevers, and will then continue on to Belen and points west.
In the distance are the Manzano Mountains. This range's tallest mountain is 10,098 foot (3,078 meters) Manzano Peak, with a prominence of 3,238 ft (987 m). This is the Manzano Wilderness Area, part of the Mountainair Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest.
