(1) On the left is an intermodal train (BNSF S-CDZSCO1-29L) with a Grinstein Green and Cream SD70MAC, not a usual visitor to southern California, as the rear unit, (2) that intermodal train with BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4541 has been sitting here at Esperanza for days, (3) Amtrak train 3, the westbound Southwest Chief, has (yet again) a BNSF freight locomotive on the headend, because Amtrak P42DC 183, which was leading this train (with AMTK 193), crapped out and was removed in Gallup NM, (4) the Chief's first two cars are a pair of Metrolink coaches returning to Los Angeles (from Milwaukee WI, where they were rebuilt) in the carrier's newest paint scheme, (5) the Chief is running, at this point, 8 hours 54 minutes behind schedule, thanks to the bad P42 and also due to a medical emergency en route, and (6) this is southern California, and yet the hills are green! Very unusual! (Yorba Linda, California – April 2, 2024)
