Take A Ride On The Put. On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, MTA Metro-North Railroad operated a round trip Inspection Train/Office Car Special from Grand Central Terminal in New York, New York to Southeast, New York on the Harlem Line using MNCW 211 (New York Central/40th Anniversary) and 217 (NYS-Penn Central/40th Anniversary) with the traditional three cars (2 Lackawanna Railroad from the Phoebe Snow, 1 NYC Empire Service coach). Although originally intended to go to Wassaic, the trip was curtailed due to weather. The train turned on the wye at Putnam Junction, one of two small remaining pieces of the former New York and Putnam (later Putnam Branch of the New York Central Railroad), perhaps the most unusual place on active MNR trackage to see a train move, much less this train.
