Circus Colors on The Scenic Line. On the warm afternoon of June 20, 2021, Western Maryland Scenic Railroad 501 (née-PRR 2249, GP30, EMD, 5/1963) sits at the Frostburg, Maryland station. In 2017, this locomotive was repainted in the Western Maryland Railway's 'circus colors' scheme of red, white and black, a tribute to the original owner of the line and theme of the WMSR. The 'Wild Mary' as it was colloquially known, ended its passenger service in 1959 and the railroad would later become part of CSX, but in the late 1980s, the Scenic Railroad Development Corporation (SRDC) was formed to assume control of the shop in Ridgley and track in this area, parent to today's WMSR.
