Remarks & Notes |
"Your doubling away for the pair at Hillsport train 100." Located at mile 42 of CN's Caramat Subdivision in Northwestern Ontario, Canada is the small community of Hillsport. CN operates a remote section engineering camp here as well as a siding and the former Manitouwadge Sub (now 2 miles of track) off the east end of the siding. Long trains will often double away to meet the morning and evening hotshot intermodal trains that get preference. CN uses just a handful of spots across its Northern Ontario District for planned oversiding meets where the train is split up. Investments from Manitoba to Toronto have added several long sidings but this practice still happens several times a week at Hillsport east of Hornepayne. The tailend remote is about to sneak around the curve and its a "slow to clear" at Hillsport East to get 100 back together and on the move. |
