With the possible last train to ride over the CFU lead coming late 2023, I looked thru what I had from this dead end line. This was once the mainline of the Rock Island from West Liberty to Manly. The Iowa Northern did use the line when it was a thru route. Building of Interstate 380 thru Waterloo in the 80s, routed the IANR to the current route via the UP/CN thru Waterloo. This line was cut in half and was mainly used to service the Cedar Falls Utilities til CFU stopped using coal in 2010. Now work is being done to tear out this trackage. Back in 2000, IANR leased Amtrak units to help out the power short railroad, and here they are on the CFU. Scanned Slide from February 2000.
