The American Orient Express (AOE) was a privately-owned, high-class passenger train that operated in conjunction with Amtrak from 1994 until 2008. A total of 11 streamlined cars were purchased and rebuilt. Once these were overhauled, a lavish new 1st-class train was inaugurated to give people a chance to ride in style. The train's 1st trip occurred on November 15, 1989, and the final trip would occur on August 28, 2008. Here, the AOE rolls east approached Galesburg in 1996.
