Remarks & Notes
Amtrak train 36, the eastbound Desert Wind (Los Angeles CA to Ogden UT) cuts through the haze as it passes the old Santa Fe station sign for Casa Blanca (White House), a neighborhood in Riverside. Today's train is made up of GE Dash 8-32BWH 509, an ex-Santa Fe Hi-Level transition coach and four Superliners. In Ogden, this train connects with Amtrak's California Zephyr for those passengers continuing east to Denver, Omaha and Chicago. Sadly, this train was discontinued in 1997, leaving Las Vegas, Nevada, and other cities without passenger train service. (Riverside, California – April 17, 1992)
