SCH Palmer Falls. On Friday, April 26, 2024, the Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway's SCH 1137 "Palmer Falls" sits at its Corinth, New York Station ahead of the next day's runs to Hadley. Built as Great Northern 1137 (ACF, 1950), it was purchased by NJ DOT for Central Railroad of New Jersey commuter service, where this class was nicknamed "Green Fleet" (for its color) or "Jersey Builder" (as a takeoff on its Empire Builder service) and renumbered 327. NJ Transit would inherit this car and eventually donate it along with seven others to the URHS, who at this time leased it to Iowa Pacific. During this week it was running on the Bateseville Christmas Train when the train derailed, and further passenger operations were suspended. The car was later sold to U.S. Sugar in Clewiston, Florida, who in turn recently resold it to the Saratoga Corinth & Hudson Railway. It was received in Decemeber of 2023, and SCH converted it into a lounge car, in service for that month's Candy Cane Express Trains. The paint scheme is not yet complete, but when finished it will be a tribute to the Delaware & Hudson Railway's World's Fair scheme.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
