| Two locomotives of the e428 group of the State Railways are preserved at the Luino station by the Verbano Express Association; number 174 was built in 1939 with a semiaerodynamic case, 208 in 1940 with an aerodynamic case. They were used to haul heavy passenger trains on the most important lines until they were replaced by newer, more powerful locomotives and ended service with local and freight trains on lowland lines.
