Remarks & Notes
A pair of New Orleans & Gulf Coast Geep's sit quietly at the Gouldsboro Yard in Gretna, LA. We're on the Gouldsboro-Myrtle Grove line which date as far back as 1891 when it was built by the New Orleans, Fort Jackson & Grande Isle Railroad which when under different ownership from New Orleans, Southern & Grand Isle Railway in 1911 to New Orleans & Lower Coast Railroad in 1916. in 1926 it was the last independent owned operation that went under controlled by the Missouri Pacific eventually being absorbed. Rio Grande Pacific is the owner of the NOGC, purchased from previous shortline New Orleans Lower Coast Railroad, which was a RailTex subsidiary. The NOLR purchased the 24 mile segment from the Union Pacific in 1991.
