Daybreak On The Link. The Oak Point Link is a unique piece of modern trackage in New York City, sitting in the Harlem River with water on both sides. The summer sunrise comes behind the train with just a bit of clouds to create a colorful effect as the consist approaches the Madison Avenue Bridge. CSX M701(25) got a bit of a late start out of Selkirk, New York, leading to a daylight arrival in New York City on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. The normal pair of GE wide cabs was supplemented by a few EMDs that were replacing yard power on cycle, making for a nice sight as the sun came up on the Harlem River. This train is a daily turn to bring refuse, lumber, food, construction debris, plastic pellets and other products to and from New York City as the sole daily manifest road train to serve the 5 boroughs.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
