"NYA Interchanges NYCT Batter Loco"
On the afternoon of July 3rd, 2024, New York & Atlantic Railway RS-90, led by GMTX and CEFX leasers, hands off brand new Wabtec WAB6HYB (R255) #HL001 to a New York City Transit (NYCT) work train crew on the "Transit Siding" by Linden Yard on the Bay Ridge Branch in Brooklyn, New York. The NYCT crew is utilizing a MPI MP8AC-3 (R156), which served as the base for the new locomotive.
The WAB6HYB (R255), is a 675hp hybrid battery locomotive built by Wabtec Corporation (formerly GE Transportation) in Erie, Pennsylvania. These locomotives are specially designed to meet all of New York City Transit's subway standards and can operate on battery power for up to 8 hours. They will be used to power work trains throughout the system. HL001 is the second out of 25 units scheduled for delivery.
