Kicking Horse Canyon From high above the new highway and the old, an eastbound stack train roars up the 2.2% grade out of Glenogle, BC. The original road closely followed the original alignment next to the Candian Pacific railroad thru the canyon and was built in 1928, Later in 1962 the newer highway was built using parts of the original road. The bridge abutments can be seen in this photo. In the early part of the 2000's to now the newer "expressway" has been phased in, and is out of sight below me. This vantage point high on the mountain serves as great spot to watch the battle for Kicking horse Canyon. Helpers were once used here from Golden to Leonchoil and again from Field to the Summit of Kicking Horse Pass.
