Remarks & Notes |
Heatherslaw Light Railway was built around 30 years ago . It was the dream of a couple of men who wanted their own railway system and extends for nearly 3 miles from Heatherslaw to Etal castle in Northumberland. Built to a 15 inch gauge with locomotives and rolling stock created for the railway it has carried visitors during the summer months along the banks of the River Till. This year it held its first ever Gala event with a guest engine from the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway; Katie. Three days over the first weekend of August saw the little engine pull three coaches to the delight of visitors and rail enthusiasts. The scene depicted is at Heatherslaw station. Katie has brought in its train, been turned on the turntable and is running round to the front of its train before departing with its final load of the day. |
