Back-To-Back At West Barnstable. On Saturday, August 17, 2024, as part of 'Railfan Day' on the MassCostal/Cape Cod Central Railroad, former New Haven Railroad FL-9s MC 2011 (née-NH 2038) and 2026 (née-NH 2007) were coupled together on the east/south end of the coach train for three round trips during the event. Running a pair back-to-back was common from the New Haven era all of the way up to their Metro-North retirement from Grand Central Terminal train service. The fact that both are painted the original McGinnis style added to the effect. The train is seen passing through the Great Salt Marsh. Of the sixty original FL-9/FL-9As built by EMD, several sets still survive today in active tourist service, including at the Railroad Museum of New England and Grapevine Railroad. The train is seen passing the former NYNH&H station in West Barnstable, which is used by the railroad today.
