Sitting in the siding at Lyle, Washington, is BNSF Railway coal train BNSF train C-SXMRBG3-53 (Signal Peak MT to Robert Banks [Global] BC). An eastbound has just passed, and ES44AC 5762 and SD70MACs 8803 and 9899 (along with ES44C4 6166 on the rear) are about to begin moving their train westward along the Fallbridge Sub once again. This is the former Spokane Portland & Seattle mainline built along the northern bank of the Columbia River – a water-level route with gentle grades but a lot of tunnels and curves as it follows this impressive river through the spectacular scenery of the Columbia River Gorge.
