"Caboose Survives the Flood"
On August 22nd, 2024, Boston & Maine Railroad caboose C-60 overlooks the Little River in the background of what remains of the Olde Sawmill Grill and Miniature Golf Course in Oxford, CT. Unfortunately, the course suffered major damage on August 18, 2024, after heavy rainstorms triggered historic flooding across southwestern Connecticut, forcing its indefinite closure. There is no word yet on whether they will reopen, but the family has set up a fundraiser to assist with cleanup efforts. The link can be found on the course's official website. *This photo replicates the same angle I photographed in September 2021.
C-60 was built by the International Car Company for the Boston & Main Railroad in 1959 as C-108 and later renumber after it was rebuilt in 1975. During its lifespan, the caboose was used on the rear of local and short-distance trains throughout the B&M system. Some time after its retirement, the caboose was moved to its current home at the Olde Sawmill Grill and Miniature Golf Course.
