"Moving Flats in the Marine Terminal"
On the morning of July 6th, 2024, New York New Jersey Rail's "Brooklyn crew" tows a cut of flatcars in the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Brooklyn, New York. Leading the train is KLWX 253 (Morrison-Knudsen TE-47-4E) and NYNJ 5101 (Knoxville Locomotive Works SE10B).
Aside from floating cars between Brooklyn and Greenville, NJ, NYNJ Rail serves customers on both sides. Sims Metal Management is one customer on the Brooklyn side that requires the railroad to use its historic street-running trackage, which runs down the middle of 1st Avenue within Sunset Park.
