Signal That Train Has Parted. During the early morning hours of Saturday, August 31, 2024, West Chester Railroad WCRL 4230 (née-CP 4230, C424, MLW, 5/1965), departed the railroad's property. The locomotive was picked up by SEPTA, the first interchange between the two railroads in many years, and brought to Norfolk Southern in Norristown. In fact, it had been so long that SEPTA publicly notified the communities that there would be overnight rail activity on the line. It will ultimately be delivered to the NDC Railroad in Northampton, Pennsylvania for service. This photo, taken on the evening of November 14, 2020, was during a short night session on the day of a charter after this locomotive had been recently repainted but was not yet mechanically ready for service, and so was shot in the yard.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
