Remarks & Notes

Following the East River between the ridges the Norfolk & Western had a few squiggles to negotiate to reach the easy grades along the beautiful New River. Just east of Oakvale this train, its dynamic brakes howling, is eastbound on the south main. I reasonable certain this was just incidental to a steam trip.
