Since a few weeks, the SBB rented the locomotives 185 # 061 and # 062 of the PRESS (Pressnitztalbahn) for gravel train services mainly. This are the former SBB Re 482 # 031 and # 032, Bombardier TRAXX F140 AC1, which pull the empty HOLCIM gravel train 69770 from St.Gallen Haggen via Romanshorn to Hüntwangen-Wil through Winterthur. The background: SBB has ordered a total of 35 Vectron locomotives from Siemens for national transport, which should have been delivered from spring 2024. The locomotives cannot yet be used in Switzerland due to the lack of approval for the ECTS Baseline 3 from Siemens. Some of the Re 4/4 II and Re 6/6 locomotives were not overhauled as they were due to be replaced by the new locomotives. As a result, there is currently a shortage of operational freight locomotives.
