Well, this one got people trackside. A loaded potash train for export in Tampa, the second such train in two days. 3115 leading was a treat. It's one of the rare heritage units that actually represents an entity that technically still exists as a subsidiary (a Crown corporation within BC itself), not to mention a variant of the scheme appeared on a similar class of locomotive within the BCOL roster, even before CN assumed the fleet. This scheme is based on the original 1985 "BC Rail" Hockey Stick paint (aka Expo86 paint) which, like Canadian Pacific, opted for a simpler "brand recognition", in this case a Provincial rebranding with the colours that had been applied to BC Transit. The "Hockey Stick" variant was short lived, the red-white-blue was modified and that is what you can still find in some lease units and the recently retired C40-8M portion of the roster, as well as the "Phantom Blue" scheme which succeeded the RWB.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
