On the final day of diesel service on the Caltrain corridor north of San Jose, a double header of F40 locomotives (920 and 917) leads train 410 past the Bayshore station on the way to Gilroy. This was the final time either of these locomotives would pass through this location. Though 920, being one of the newer F40PH-2C locomotives, will be retained by Caltrain for use on San Jose to Gilroy services, this would be one of the final runs for 917.
Where once there was only one commuter carrier, Southern Pacific between San Jose and San Francisco, today there are three: Caltrain (former SP), Altamont Commuter Express, and the newest, SMART (Sonoma-Marin Rapid Transit).
