In honor of VRS's 60th anniversary, Trains Magazine hosted a 2-day charter that used Green Mountain Railroad RS-1 #405, put back in it's original Rutland lettering, to run from Rutland to Bellows Falls on Saturday and Rutland to Burlington on Sunday. The Sunday trip hit a bit of a snag when it was realized that the 25mph limit on the #405, plus a 2 hour wait at Middlebury for Amtrak to pass by, would strain the limits of the crew's service hours and would force the elimination of photo runbys. Instead, this ex-SSW GP40-2 was added to the south end, allowing the #405 to lead north, and then we could do 59mph south and still get photo stops. This was taken on the northbound leg, when we were put in the siding to let Amtrak's soutbound Ethan Allen Express by, giving this unique photo opportunity of the meet.
