Brand new Siemens "Vectron XLoad" 193 # 548 "Holstentor Lübeck" of SüdLeasing, rented by SBB Cargo International, in the "Alppiercer 3" paint scheme, is running light through Olten as train 38056 from Cornaux to Basel shunting yard. SBB Cargo International gets 20 of this new version "XLoad" now, 20 more are ordered. From the Siemens Website:"XLoad is an innovative equipment package developed by Siemens Mobility for their Vectron locomotives. This feature enhances the locomotive's traction capability, allowing for increased hauling capacity and efficiency. XLoad enables heavier trains to be operated in single traction on challenging routes, such as the Swiss north-south axis, eliminating the need for a second locomotive. This technology significantly improves the operational flexibility and cost-effectiveness of rail freight transport, particularly in mountainous regions. The XLoad package has been successfully tested and is now being implemented in new Vectron orders for various European rail operators." The locomotives are not approved for Italy yet, so they can not be used in the north-south international traffic of SBB Cargo International in the moment.
