MTA Metro-North Inspection Train On The Hudson Line. On Thursday, October 10, 2024, MTA Metro-North operated an Inspection Train on the Hudson Line with MNCW 214 (40th Ann/Employee Appreciation) facing north/west and MNCW 211 (40th Ann/New York Central) with its 3 Office Cars. The cars are in fact old, one former New York Central and the other two former Lackawanna Railroad. The locomotives are contemporary models, but "wrapped" in the paint scheme of predecessor railroads. The train headed up the he train headed up the Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie, where the locomotives ran around the cars for the return trip to Grand Central Terminal, giving railroad executives and management the opportunity to inspect many ongoing, completed, and needed improvements on the line. The rear view of the Inspection Train shows the rear facing windows of the former Lackawanna Phoebe Snow observation car. The Employee Appreciation unit is seen facing north/west passing under the High Bridge, a vintage New York City landmark that was constructed in 1848.
