Created in the early '80s with the assistance of movie and TV special effects guru Deed Rossiter, Metro-Man was Metro-North Railroad's first mascot. Metro-Man visited schools and events for over 20 years spreading the message of rail safety before his retirement. The next nearly 20 years were spent in relative solitude in Grand Central Terminal's Williamson Library, until I had him busted out and sent to Harmon for repair.
Metro-North's Maintenance of Equipment Technical Support Group repaired our favorite robot, and he was quite the hit at Open House. Prior to the guests arriving, we posed Metro-Man in front of several of the equipment displays for photos, including this one with the New York Central heritage locomotive.
