Geep In Pittsfield. Amtrak Train 1246 (Berkshire Flyer) had an unusual locomotive facing Rensselaer, New York on Sunday, July 14, 2024. GP38-3 AMTK 743 (Phase VII) is wearing the railroad's newest paint scheme as it prepares to depart Pittsfield, Massachusetts for Albany-Rensselaer, New York. The summer only Berkshire Flyer service is on its third year of operation. On the other end is a standard P32AC-DM providing head end power to the train as this locomotive does not have that capability and is only there to facilitate the changing ends in Pittsfield. It will be removed before the final leg of the trip to New York Penn Station.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
Once treated like a backwater with decrepit locomotives, cars and track, Massachusetts has become a star in the Amtrak constellation with electrification to Boston, service to Maine and an upgraded Connecticut Valley line.
