Chariton is a southern Iowa town with a lot of flavor. The BNSF Ottumwa Sub and the UP Trenton Sub both pass thru town. While the UP side isn't very accessible, the BNSF passes right thru a fairly neat business district. Here, the 4th eastbound out of Creston this morning rumbles thru town with coal bound for Calvert City, KY, and the Louisiana Generating Station. The town square isn't far off the track with many businesses to the local shopper.
