In 1993, the SP contracted Morrison Knudsen to supply 133 rebuilds in the form of a SD40M-2. MK provided the carbodies for these rebuilds and they were as the following carbody styles....
SD40's carbodies - 8583, 8624 - 8647, 8658, 8686 - 8689. - (30 units).
SD45's carbodies that got a kitbash GP40 long hoods and radiators- 8574 - 8582, 8700 - (10 units).
SDP45's carbodies 8691- 8696 (6 units).
SD45 carbodies - (87 units) everything not listed above basically.
The 8576 picture above was the ex-CNW 905 that was rebuilt with the kitbash from MK. Once a SD45 flare, it now has a GP40 long hood and radiators. Seen here heading up BN's hotshot to Seattle in a late summer evening at East Dubuque.
