Couple Up At Zero. The Mass Bay RRE's 2016 "Two Rivers Steam Special" traveled out of Worcester, Massachusetts and along the Providence & Worcester Railroad's Norwich Branch through Norwich and down to Groton, where it would switch on to the Northeast Corridor Line and arrive at the Valley Railroad. At the Valley, that railroad's 3025 took over for the PW power, which was uncoupled and parked near this location. At the end of this round trip on the VALE, PW 3907(née-LMX 8504, B39-8E, GE, 10/1987) is coupled on to the observation car for the return to Worcester as a flagman provides protection across Mill Rock Road in Old Saybrook, Connecticut at Milepost Zero on the Valley.
Although most only provide freight service, regional railroads have passenger operations; not only executive trains but also charity events and excursions.
