The two Ge 4/4 I # 603 (built in 1947) and # 605 (built in 1953) are the two oldest active traction units of the Rhaetian Railway that are not (yet) declared as historic vehicles. During the summer season, the two locomotives were stationed in Davos Platz and took turns pulling the nostalgic Zügenschlucht train between Davos Platz and Filisur (twice daily). The locomotives are not yet equipped with the new ZSI-127 train protection system, are otherwise no longer allowed to operate and had a special permit for use in front of the nostalgia train. After the end of the season, the two locomotives were collected by Ge 4/4 III # 646 in the BÜGA advertising livery and transferred to Landquart. Train 9030 is on its way down into the valley between Klosters Dorf and Serneus. The Ge 4/4 I # 605 is to receive the ZSI-127 train protection system and should be back on the tracks next summer.
