UP 9009 and a pair of GEs take this MALNP(?) southbound past the old CRI&P interlocker in downtown Albert Lea, MN on UP's Spine Line. This is the last standing interlocking tower left in the state of Minnesota, as I understand it. This train--which had 53' stacks on the rear of the train, courtesy of the new intermodal deal UP's got in the Twin Cities--is traversing over the then Canadian Pacific, originally MILW, and now CPKC Jackson Subdivision. For being inoperable, the tower honestly doesn't look to be in the worst shape, IMO. Caught this train by complete chance, too. Sometimes things just work out and bucket list items magically get checked off when you least expect it. Taken on the UP Albert Lea Subdivision.
