An interested hodgepodge of vehicles, parked close together in the Balsthal depot. On the left "Red Arrow" CLe 2/4 # 601 of OeBB Historic. In the middle the former SBB Re 4/4 II # 11173, now owned by the Depot- und Schienenfahrzeuge Koblenz (DSF) and brought back in the delivery status in green. On the right steamlocomotive E 3/3 # 8500, built 1910 by SLM for the SBB. It was used in SBB District II (Basel/Lucerne) and was assigned to the Olten and Basel locomotive depots. After being decommissioned by SBB in 1962, it remained in service at the von Moos ironworks in Emmenbrücke LU as works locomotive # 6 until the end. After its final decommissioning in 1972, it was loaned to the Eurovapor sponsorship organization and was parked on various industrial sites for years. With a view to its planned reconditioning, it was taken over by the Oensingen-Balsthal-Bahn OeBB steam group in 1999 and transferred to Balsthal SO. Once its overhaul has been completed as part of a project to promote young talent, this transportation monument will also be available for use at public events.
