Putting on a pre-dawn show. With her cylinder cocks open, the massive Santa Fe Northern #2926 begins her pre-dawn show for photographers by conducting a couple of short run-bys in the Albuquerque, NM yard, under a veil of colorful cirrus clouds.
This image was captured during an October 2024 photo shoot, organized by Lerro Photography, which featured America's second largest operable steam locomotive, operated by a crew from the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society, which is now known as New Mexico Heritage Rail. The recently restored 4-8-4 is housed in Albuquerque, in a dedicated facility, which is located a couple of miles from this yard.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
